Future finder

Deciding what to do after school is a intimidating prospect for most. Our Future Finder program is designed to help learners and their families make the best decisions that they can with the information that they need. Honey badger facilitators act as guides, helping with the process. We at Honey badger believe that every person has unique gifts, abilities and passions that should be used to make a difference in the world and also generate a livelihood. We do this by focusing on the following three areas:  

We guide the learners through a process of discovering their strengths, passions and personality. We then use this information to guide them in career investigation. We also encourage them to talk to other adults in their lives who know them well and get input from them.    

Building on what we have learnt through the Self Discovery section we assist the learners to choose career environments to research.  We then guide them with practical steps to discover career environments that will most likely be a good fit for them. 

Self efficacy is the skills that are needed to overcome obstacles in order to achieve your goals. We focus on the following in order to teach this: 

• Vision 
• Values
• Freedom 
• Where to lead yourself going forward
• Identifying possible obstalces

1. Video Session: Before the training session with the learners the parents/guardians are sent a video to give them a better idea of what will be covered in the training and how they can support their child in the process.  

2.Training Session with the Learner: In this session we will cover the Self Discovery section as well as Self Efficacy. We will also prepare them on how to do effective career investigation.  

3. Job shadows & Interviews: First prize is for learners to job shadow the three career environments which they have identified, but if that is not possible they can use our interview questions to still get the information they need in order to make a more informed decision.
